Shuttling between his old family home in central Delhi (where he was born and continues to live with his family)and his outhouse cum state-of-the-art, especially designed sprawling cool studio filled with lotus symbols in its varied hues and forms surrounded by a tranquil garden in Gurgaon (that he bought with his first earnings from the commission for a mural), where he works lost in its Zen and Shivam ambience, the artist has had his share of ups and downs. an initial dejection by his love amita Gupta, a photographer and textile designer in her own right followed by detection of a serious brain tumor just a few weeks before they were finally to get married and then a major surgery and a period of convalesce, proved to be the breeding grounds for the artist's spiritual bent of mind and an epitome of his journey towards Zen philosophy and aesthetics. The birth of his only son ananda helped him see and live life afresh with a new hope and energy that had already begun to pervade his creative oeuvre.
